Hi Cat. Have you tried redefining these experiences as something other than painful? We move away from what we perceive as painful and don't get to really look at it as a result. Since memories are recreated in the present moment, they are being offered up in your reality in order to view them in a new light. Not to sound simplistic for I know these things can run deep and I respect whatever process you need. We are humans not mechanical devices after all. I go into the furnace quite often myself.
edit on 6/23.... instead of giving a positive meaning at first, see if you can get neutral to the event or person you feel at odds with. Let it give you the positive message itself rather than you ascribing one to it. Ask how does even this serve me. Find out how it does.
Ever notice how 'the worst thing that could ever happen' often turns out to be the "Best thing" sometime later? The event was the same but the meaning shifts according to how we look at it. How we choose to look at it. How it plays out in the long run. There are powerful good forces at work in our lives... just have to see it.
Part of the issue is when it (them) comes up they are SO PAINFUL that I feel like I can't handle it - I sort of panic, and hurry up and find something to focus on to lower the pain - but as you write this only "works"as a temporary "solution", since it will come back stronger next time - I've in a way "perpetuated" a looping cycle I don't seem to get out of - but not really, because as you have written I can easily "end the loop" by providing it with a positive meaning.
I guess the best way is that I consciously choose to activate the memory being prepared to give it a positive meaning (so that it doesn't catch me off guard while I'm in the middle of something else). But I do, however, feel reluctant to do this, as if I do not want to give this kind of situations or occurrences a positive meaning at all - I don't want to acknowledge that something like that can ever happen at all. But as I am typing this, it do sound like judgement...so I guess I'll just consciously recall the memory and decide to give it a positive meaning, and go right ahead in a boldly manner and do just that!
I feel you. Did you find a way through this in the end? I so emphatize and know that a lot of people went through so much pain (like abuse, bad childhood or worse etc) and it's SO hard to find anything positive about that...but in your case whatever it is, you are now here, and started a path towards your own awakening.
Having said all that, Elan would say, one must first feel the feeling, let it play out, and when we give them the time, they do not last long. Only then will we be able to find the blessing in disguise... which happens to be the latest session 😘🤗
I get you. That's a hard one, and I've gone through it. What I found that helped to break the cycle is the following:
Elan and Bashar often stated that if a memory keeps coming up or if something keeps occurring over and over again, it's a repeated message from our Higher Self to address it
The way I interpret this is that it is an opportunity to reframe the 'symbol', whatever it is.
Imagine that one has had a bad childhood, or there was an event that was traumatic.
They always state that every situation can be viewed in a positive or negative light, it has the potential for both
The negative interpretation is pretty obvious usually, as that's what keeps coming back to mind
However, there is a positive interpretation somewhere but you got to use your imagination to find it. We, as humans somehow have been trained only to look at the negative
So one way (and I've used this A LOT), is to ask myself, what does this bad experience enabled me to do that I would not have otherwise done?
Usually, something will always come up, if you really look for it. It has changed you in some way. Normally automatically you would think of the negative, but the event also has changed you in the positive.
Your task is to find that positive. Usually when you do find it, the symbol actually ceases to come up and eventually completely disappear from your reality. But you need to maintain the positive interpretation for long enough time. When we waiver back and forth (between negative and positive), this is when we don't get the results and start to conclude that this stuff doesn't work.
The more you are able to do this, the better you get at it. It's like a muscle that needs training.

I appreciate the elaboration, thank you.

Trust that this helps in one way or another!
