Intelligence and spiritual growth

Elan, thanks again for the opportunity to ask questions. I wanted to know the role of intelligence in our spiritual evolution. Some humans are more or less intelligent than others, and indeed it's clear humans as a whole may be less intelligent than you and other Essassani, for example. Does lower intelligence make it harder to grasp the lessons of our spiritual journey, or is it only an issue when incarnated into a physical body? Thank you
